Center in Human Design

Root

Fuel pressure, adrenaline, adaptation, the impulse to act

Function
Fuel pressure, adrenaline, adaptation, the impulse to act

Steady pressure to act. You can work under adrenaline without burning out.

When defined

The Root center is defined — you have constant pressure to act. This is your adrenaline. Combined with other defined motors, it provides a large pool of work energy. The trap is not resting, being always “on.”

When open

The Root is open — there is no steady inner pressure, but you pick up the pressure of others and rush to be free of it. This is the main not-self trap: doing other people's urgent tasks quickly, just to make the pressure go away.

Not-Self & Wisdom

Not-Self: Rushing to be free of pressure; doing other people's urgent tasks for the sake of your own release.

Wisdom: Tell whose pressure this is. Learn to act without pressure — calmly, by choice.
